Zürich - Safenwil (73km)

Hoy me eché un buen ride. Salí de mi casa en ruta hacia la casa del suegro, Ernst. Según mi GPS, la ruta consistía de 73km, pasando a través de tres cantones: Zúrich, Soleura y Aargau.

Desde que salí de Zúrich, el viento de frente me hizo compañía durante casi dos horas, lo cual me redujo considerablemente la velocidad. Además, tres veces me llegué un aguacero encima, producto de las tormentas que han sucedido en todo el país desde la semana pasada. Claro que, un aguacero aquí, es literalmente una meada de perro, nada que ver con los baldazos sádicos de Costa Rica, no no.

En total me tomó 4 horas, 55 minutos recorrer estos 73km.



I did a nice ride today. I got out of my house en route to Safenwil, in canton Aargau. According to my GPS, la route went along 73km and across three cantons: Zurich, Solothurn and Aargau.

Since I started the ride, front wind hit hard and accompanied me for about 2 hours, considerably slowing me down. I also got surprised by three rain showers or short duration, but I can't complain, riding under the rain is fun too.

In total, it took me 4 hours and 55 minutes to cover this 73km.

Switzerland's prettiest barroque city

Solothurn advertises itself as the prettiest barroque city from Switzerland. Well, I'm not an expert on barroque cities to judge that, but Solothurn managed to call my attention.

The history of Solothurn dates back to the year 14 - 37 AD, with the foundation of the celtic Salodurum, around the time when Tiberius was the emperor of the Roman Empire. That means that across almost 1000 years, what today is Solothurn is heavily influenced with the architecture of several epoques, something that is quite unique for such a small place. And the fact that this place has managed to survive almost 1.000 years is simply fantastic!...
