Puesto que el triatlón es el domingo de la próxima semana, el día de hoy me tocó hacer el última entrenamiento fuerte. Para este ride, escogí una ruta muy especial aquí en Suiza.

Antes de que se construyeran el túnel férroviario y posteriormente el túnel para carros, el paso del San Gotardo fue una de las rutas más duras para cruzar, y la única vía que unía al cantón de Tesino con el resto del país. Así que para este día decidí tomar el reto de escalar el macizo del San Gotardo, en la ruta Göschenen - Bellinzona. La ruta inicia sin perder tiempo con el ascenso al paso del Gotardo, un ascenso de 20km de longitud, con una distancia vertical de 1260 metros, cerca de 8% de inclinación, aunque un tramo en particular fue de 17%!

Esta ruta es, hasta el momento, la más espectacular que he hecho desde que llegué aquí. El macizo alpino es simplemente impresionante, un paisaje de altura que nunca había visto en mi vida. La ruta también ha sido, hasta el momento, la más dura que he hecho, pero valió la pena.

Since the triathlon is Sunday of next week, today I had to do the last intensive training. For this ride, I chose a very special route in Switzerland.

Before the rail tunnel and the highway tunnel were built, el Gotthard pass was one of the most difficult route in the country, and the only route the united Tessin with the rest of the country. So today I chose the challenge of climbing the St. Gotthard massiv, riding the route between Göschenen in canton Uri and Bellinzona in canton Tessin. The route starts right away with the climb to the Gotthard pass, a 20km-long ascent, with a vertical distance of 1260 meters and an average 8% steepness, although one section in particular was an astonishing 17% steep!

This is the most spectacular route that I have done since I came to this country. The alpine massiv is simply impressive, with a landscape that I had never seen in my life. This route is, of course, the most challenging I have done, but it was worth it.
