Ya recuperado de la lesión en la zona lumbar que me mantuvo fuera de las carreteras por dos semanas y media, reanudé hoy sábado las andanzas en bicicleta por las campiñas suizas. La ruta planeada para el día de hoy fue Zúrich - Goldau, pasando por la ciudad de Zug. La ruta atraviesa tres cantones: Zúrich, Zug y Schwyz.

Para salir de Zúrich, hay que hacer un ascenso de unos 7km de longitud, en algunos tramos con una inclinación de hasta 9%. Para una bicicleta de ruta esa inclinación es un poco pesada, pero quién dijo miedo, así que a darle duro. Ya después de la subida, recibe uno la merecida recompensa: una impresionante vista al valle.

Como todo lo que sube tiene que bajar, la ruta continua con un descenso de 7km hacia Zug. La ciudad de Zug es dominada por el impresionante lago de Zug, el cual, cuando está soleado y despejado, ofrece una de las vistas más impresionantes que he visto en este país.

Déjenme primero contarles un poco sobre Zug. El cantón de Zug (cuya ciudad principal tiene el mismo nombre) es un pequeño cantón en el centro de Suiza. El cantón es famoso por varias razones. Zug es uno de los cantones con los impuestos más bajos en toda la confederación, lo cual a atraído a una gran cantidad de firmas (como Siemens), organizaciones (como la FIFA) y una gran cantidad de millonarios.

Now finally recovered from the injury at the lumbar zone, an injury that kept me out of the streets for two weeks and a half, I resumed my bike trips across the beautiful landscapes of Switzerland. Today’s route was Zurich - Goldau, going through the city of Zug. This route crosses over three different Swiss cantons: Zurich, Zug and Schwyz.

To exit canton Zurich, one has to go through an ascent of about 7km, in which you’ll find some sections with an inclination of 9%, which is kind of hard for a road bike. But nevertheless, climbing is a great way to improve cycling performance and technique. Once the climb is over, you get your deserved reward: a beautiful view of the valley.

Since everything that goes up must come down, after climbing my way out of canton Zurich, I went on a downhill road of 7km. After the descent, you get to Zug. The city of Zug is dominated by the Lake Zug, a lake that, when it’s sunny and with a clear sky, offers one of the most precious sights I have seen here in Switzerland.

Let me tell you a little bit of canton Zug. This canton (whose main city is also called Zug) is a small canton in the central part of Switzerland. This canton has earned a special reputation for several reasons. Zug offers one of the lowest tax rates in Switzerland, which has attracted a lot of companies (like Siemens), organizations (like the FIFA) and a good deal of millionaires too.

After leaving Zug, the route continues along the lake until reaching Arth. Arth is located in canton Schwyz, one of the three original cantons that founded the Swiss confederation in 1291 (but you are a frequent reader of this blog, so you already knew that, right? Do you recall which are the other two cantons?). Once at Arth, the route turns to the east and away from the lake towards Goldau, where I took the train back home.
