Bregenzerwald es una de las regiones turísticas más famosas del estado austriaco de Vorarlberg. Es una región dominada por los impresionantes alpes nororientales y los alpes de Algovia. Aunque aún estamos oficialmente en primavera, la verdad es que ya las temperaturas están en los rangos típicos del verano (30C). Aún así, el clima de vez en cuando puede cambiar drásticamente, como podrán observar en el video, se nos vino de improviso una fantástica tormenta de granizo.

El Hotel Post en Bregenzerwald es un hotel Wellness, con excelentes instalaciones como spa, sauna, sanarium, y otras típicas de un hotel destinado a la relajación. Pero no solamente se tiene la opción de entretenerse en el hotel, sino que también es obligatorio para todo visitante salir a conocer el pueblo de Bezau y el resto de la región de Bregenzerwald. En invierno toda una famosa zona para esquiar, durante esta temporada la región es conocida por las posibilidades que ofrece para hacer hiking, paracaidismo y ciclismo de montaña.

El viernes tomamos el tren Wälderbähnle. El Wälderbähnle es un tren museo que sale de Bezau hacia Schwarzenberg. Es un tren antiguo, que recorre hermosos paisajes a baja velocidad en un típico tren austriaco de antaño.

Bregenzerwald is one of the most famous touristic areas of the Austrian state of Vorarlberg. It is a region dominated by the impressive north-oriental and Allgäuer alpine mountains. Although we are still officially in spring, we enjoyed (or suffered!) from very warm temperatures (30C or so). Even so, weather could drastically change without notice, and so we experienced a hail storm that took us completely by surprise (as you can observe in the video).

The Hotel Post in Bregenzerwald is a Wellness hotel, with extraordinary facilities like a spa, sauna, sanarium, an other amenities typical of wellness hotels. Not only you have the chance to relax at the hotel, but it is mandatory to get out and get to know the small town of Bezau and the surroundings of the Bregenzerwald region. A famous ski area during winter, during these times of warmth the region offers excellent hiking trails, parachuting schools and nice routes for mountain biking.

On Friday we took a ride on the Wälderbähnle. The Wälderbähnle is a museum train that departs from Bezau to Schwarzenberg. It is an antique train that goes through beautiful places at low speed. It is a nice way to enjoy and get to know the region while at the same time experience a ride on a typical ancient Austrian train.

30km, Rankweil - Bregenz

Hoy fue la sesion mas larga y extenuantes del entrenamiento: 30km a 6:45min/km, con un poco de ascensos. Para la ruta, sali de Rankweil hacia Bregenz, ciudad que queda en la orilla del lago Bodensee, muy cerca de la frontera con Baviera, Alemania. A partir de hoy, el plan de entrenamiento va bajando el kilometraje. Y es que ya faltan solamente DOS semanas para la maraton de Zurich. Como siempre, les adjunto el mapa del recorrido y unas fotos de los lugares por donde pase.

La ruta consistio en: Rankweil, Gotzis, Hohenems, Dornbirn, Lauterach y finalmente Bregenz.



Today was the longest traning session of the trainings plan: 30km at 6:45min/km, with some ascents along the way. For this route, I departed from Rankweil, in Austria, and proceeded towards Bregenz, a city that lies along the shores of Bodensee river. Bregenz is very near the border with Germany's Baviera. As of today, the training plan starts reducing mileage. The marathon is only 2 weeks ahead! As usual, I upload a map of the journey and some photos as well.

Nos fuimos a un pueblo en la región de Bregenzerwald en Vorarlberg, Austria, que se llama Bizau. Ahí, desgraciadamente, no tenía ni señal de celular, ni tampoco Internet por los últimos 5 días. Pero, aún un poco tarde, no importa, les deseo a todos un excelente año nuevo y muchos éxitos.



We went to a town called Bizau, on the Bregenzerwald region in Vorarlberg, Austria, a region recognized for its impressive ski resorts and mountains. Regrettably, I had no cell phone connection and no Internet, but still, even a bit late, I wish each a everyone of you and a happy new 2009 and huge successes during this new year.
