Sechseläuten (en dialecto de Zúrich, Sächsilüüte) es una fiesta de primavera en la ciudad de Zúrich. La fiesta se celebra a mediados de abril, y tiene como propósito celebrar el fin del invierno.

Durante el evento, que empieza a las 3 de la tarde, los diversos gremios (de los antiguos gremios medievales que agrupaban a las personas de distintos oficios) desfilan por las calles más importantes de la ciudad de Zúrich, algunos a caballo, otros en carrozas, y el resto a pie. También, algunas agrupaciones presentan a sus bandas. Estos gremios frecuentemente reparten entre la multitud de espectadores flores, salchichas o vino, y todos portan con orgullo sus atuendos tradicionales.

La fiesta cierra con la quema del Böög. El Böög es un muñeco gigante de nieve, que está puesto sobre una plataforma de madera y paja de unos 10 metros de altitud. El propósito del Böög es, pues, prenderle fuego. El muñeco de nieves está relleno de cargas explosivas. La gracia es que cuando el fuego consume la plataforma de paja, el muñeco prende fuego y explota. La tradición dice que, entre más rápido le explote la cabeza al muñeco, significa que el verano será más largo y caliente. Si, por el contrario, el muñeco tarda mucho tiempo en explotar, es un vaticinio que el verano será corto y lluvioso. Por lo tanto, la gente espera en atento silencio hasta que el muñeco explote, lo cual es celebrado con gran alegría.

Este año el muñeco tardó 12 minutos en explotar, lo cual indica, que el verano de este año será moderado, no muy caluroso. Eso me gusta, pues un verano europeo fuerte es cosa seria...

Sechseläute (in Zürcher dialect, Sächsilüüte) is a celebration during spring in the city of Zurich. The event celebrates the end of winter.

During the event, the begins at around 15.00 hours, several guilds of the Zurich Canton parade through the city's streets, some on foot, other on horses, and other on wagons. The guilds also present some of their music bands. These people usually throw some flowers, sausages and give wine to the public seeing them pass by. The guild members wear very colorful antique costumes.

The party finishes with the burnings of the Böög. The Böög is a giant snowman, placed on top of a wooden platform about 10 meters high. The purpose of the Böög is, well, to explode. The snowman is filled with explosives. At 18.00 hours, the people set the platform on fire, and wait anxiously for the snowman to catch fire too. Once it burns, the snowman explodes, and people cheerfully celebrate the end of the winter. Tradition says that the faster the snowman blows up, then the better summer will be. On the other hand, if the snowman takes too long to explode, then people should expect a cool and rainy summer. This year, the snowman took 12 minutes to explode, indicating the this year's summer will be moderate.
