Zürich Zoo

El zoológico de la ciudad de Zúrich es uno de los puntos que deben ser visitados cuando se está de visita en esta ciudad. El zoológico tiene una gran variedad de animales de todas partes de mundo, está organizado excelentemente (al estilo suizo), y se necesitan entre 3 - 5 horas para poder recorrerlo por completo.

El campo tiene aproximadamente 15 hectáreas de terreno, 345 tipos de animales diferentes (3,400 en total), y recibe a cerca de 1.8 millones de personas al año.

Una de las secciones que más me llamó la atención fue el Masoala. El Masoala es una selva tropical artificial. Es un gran domo que se mantiene a una temperatura de 30C y con una humedad del 80%, donde han hecho crecer una mini-selva del bosque tropical lluvioso. Y la verdad es que les quedó bien. Masoala es una sección de la isla de Madagascar, y todas las especies reproducidas en esta mini-selva fueron traidas exclusivamente de ese país. Si no me creen, vean el video.

The Zurich Zoo is the zoo of the city of Zurich, and one of the attractions you must go to when visiting this city. The zoo has a great variety of animals from around the world. You'll need between 3 - 5 hours to see it all.

The zoo has about 15ha extension, 345 different types of animals (3,400 in total), and receives about 1.8 million visitors per year.

One of the sections of the zoo that caught my attention was the Masoala. The Masoala is a huge, closed dome used to reproduce a real tropical rain forest. With a temperature of about 30C and 80% humidity, the Swiss did a great job building a real tropical forest. For once I though I was in the middle of Limón or the Braulio Carrillo National Park, some of Costa Rica's heaviest forests. The Masoala is dedicated to the Masoala of Madagascar, and as such, every specimen reproduced here was brought from this country.
